Noumea - New Caledonia
New Caledonia
The Tjibaou Cultural Centre, designed by the architect Renzo Piano, was inaugurated on 4 May 1998 on an 8-hectare plot of land ceded by the city of Nouméa in 1992.
It is a privileged tool of the ADCK (Agency for the Development of Kanak Culture) and is a place of affirmation of identity and a space for meetings and cultural creation. Thanks to its original configuration, where we find in the same place an art centre, a museum, a hall, performance spaces and a specialised library, the Tjibaou cultural centre offers a multiplicity of cultural activities.
According to these offers, its audiences vary quantitatively and sociologically according to the rhythm of its actions.
