With Les Anneaux, Daniel Buren wanted to bring to light the double perspective offered by the tip of the Île de Nantes: the architectural one, drawn by the quay and its warehouses, and the natural one, of the Loire, which opens out onto the estuary. A series of 18 rings turn towards the river, offering as many views of the river landscape. This perception is even different at night when the rings are haloed in red, green and blue, three colours that form the basis of an infinite variety of others.
